Questions to ask your Web Developer.
Beginning a new project with a web designer? There are a few questions you should think about asking. Asking these questions beforehand may save you a headache down the road.
1. What is the estimated cost of the project?
You will want to know beforehand what the total cost of your new website design will be. You don’t want the surprise of a bill that was more than what you expected. At MidAmerica Web we have upfront pricing that will be stated upfront in a contract before beginning any work on your new website.
2. What is the time frame to complete the project once started?
You should ensure your expectations for the project being completed align with the designers. Say you want your new website to be up and running in a month, but your developer plans to take 3 months to get everything up and running. You obviously are not on the same page.
We state upfront what the timeframe are to get your website up and running.
3. Will I own my domain name and website?
Some web designers hold the client hostage by owning their domain name and website. They build your website for you, but don’t give you ownership and when you want to make changes to your move your site or make changes you aren’t able to.
The moment you make your final payment on your website your domain name along with all the content is yours to keep at MidAmerica Web.
4. Will my website be mobile friendly?
Nearly 65% of all searches are done on mobile devices. If your website isn’t mobile friendly, you are losing out on about 2/3 of all potential customers. Having a mobile responsive website in 2022 is a necessity.
All websites we build are mobile responsive. We test all sites on multiple devices before launch.
5. Will my website support blog writing?
Blog writing is a great way to connect with your clients and keep them informed about your business. Say you want to promote a new item or let everyone know some upcoming news about your business.
We offer Blog writing capabilities on all our sites and encourage our clients to blog.
6. Will my website be secure?
To prevent hackers and cyber-thieves from accessing sensitive information, web security is vital. Without a proactive security strategy, businesses risk the spread and escalation of malware, attacks on other websites, networks, and other IT infrastructures.
At MidAmerica Web we ensure your site has an SSL certificate. This ensures that your website is safe and that your personal information is protected. We also regularly update your website to help keep your site secure.
7. Do you offer training, so I can make small updates to my site?
Being able to make small changes to your site without having to call your web developer will end up saving you money. We offer free training to our clients to show them how to make changes to their websites. Things such as adding a blog post, updating the calendar, or changing business hours can be done by the client after training.
If a customer doesn’t have the time to update their site we also offer website care plans where we keep your site up to date for you.
8. If I have problems with my site after it is launched, will you be there for me?
As web developers who are also trusted by our clients to be there for them after their site launches, we’re always there to help you add new features or make updates. At MidAmerica Web we pride ourselves on being available to all our clients whether by phone or email.
